“Symmetry” is a new strategy board game for the iPhone. The game rules are very simple, use the concept of symmetry, and result in a very challenging gameplay!

Black and white take turns to put their stones on the board. The magic happens if the placing of a stone causes a square (2x2 or 3x3 or 4x4..etc) to be completely covered in a way that creates a mirror symmetry, horizontal or vertical. In this case all the stones in such a square change to the color of the player who just put the stone on the board.

The winner will be the player who in the end has the most stones of their color on the board!

Our app features a unique "Adaptive Playing Strength" mode. The computer starts out as an easy opponent but will automatically adapt its play level to your strength as you play more and more games! So you will always play a close, interesting game. And afterwards the computer will give you feedback on your playing strength progress!

The game gets very interesting when a player allows the other player to finish a 2x2 symmetry, only to hit back with a 3x3 symmetry of their own. A good “Symmetry” player not only recognizes symmetry possibilities on the board now, but also looks ahead for symmetry patterns that might emerge a few moves from now. And if you are ahead in the game, look out, as the game progresses and more symmetric squares have turned around, the board itself becomes more ordered, creating comeback opportunities for your opponent. Still a skilled player can create the right smart asymmetries on the board to keep a lagging opponent at bay.
